Красивейший Архипелага Гордона расположен очень близко к Порт Харди... но именно поэтому на него никогда не хватает времени! Каждый раз пролетаешь мимо, торопясь в более отдаленные места. Но в этот раз у нас остались "лишние" дни отпуска, и мы наконец решили познакомиться с архипелагом как следует, без поспешности.

Gordon Group is a beautiful place, and is conveniently located very close to Port Hardy. But it was exactly that proximity that prevented us from exploring it: every time we were passing the Gordons on our way, rushing someplace else... But this time we had a few extra days left from vacation, and were finally able to paddle a relaxed tour to this deserving archipelago!

Как обычно, выходим из бухты еще до рассвета. Но рыболовные сейнеры уже вовсю трудятся в проливе!

As always, we head out of Port Hardy before sunrise. But the trawlers are already at work in the channel!

Утренняя вода - как зеркало! In early morning, water is almost always like a mirror!

В такую тихую погоду четырехкилометровый пролив - не препятствие. Не успели оглянуться, а перед нами уже торчат из воды восточные рифы архипелага. In such a good weather, four kilometers across the channel is not a distance. We barely noticed the time as we reaches the reefs at the Eastern tip of the Group.

На самом восточном островке пристроился навигационный маяк. И не зря - архипелаг здесь разрезает пролив надвое не хуже портового волнореза! The East-most islet is marked by the navigation light. This is where the Gordon Group splits the big channel in two, almost like a port breakwater!

Обойдя остров, мы видим его северную, подсвеченной солнцем сторону... В самом деле, ведь солнце летом встает довольно далеко на севере!

We go around the islet and have a great view of its sun-lit Northern side. Indeed, the mid-summer sun rises well in the North!

Архипелаг Гордона - это довольно длинная, но при этом весьма узкая - какие-то сотни метров - цепочка островов. Поэтому, обогнув восточный конец, мы просто повернули на запад и пошли вдоль всей цепочки, от острова к острову.

Gordon Group is a long, but rather narrow chain of islands - just hundreds of meters wide. So, to explore it, we just turned West from its tip and started along Northern side of the chain, paddling from one island to another.
